Harare, June 26, 2026 – The Director of Multilateral Affairs at Zimbabwe's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, K. Taremba, and the Cuban Ambassador, Her Excellency Susellys Pérez Mesa, held a cordial exchange on the positive state of relations between the two countries and the negative consequences of unilateral coercive measures.
The Ambassador of the Caribbean island updated the Ministry's leadership on the situation in Cuba, particularly in light of the unprecedented increase in aggressive rhetoric and the hostile policies of the United States government.
She also emphasized the intensification of the blockade with the recent executive orders from the US administration and the restrictions on fuel supplies, which affect all aspects of Cuban life, especially healthcare.
The head of the Mission expressed her gratitude for Harare's long-standing support for the just cause of the Caribbean nation in the face of the blockade, a sentiment reiterated on this occasion by Taremba, in keeping with the historic bilateral ties and the mutual understanding against the unilateral coercive measures imposed on both nations.
Both diplomats agreed on the essential need to respect International Law and the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations, as the fundamental basis for relations between states in the current complex global landscape.
