G77 stands against the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the US on Cuba

New York, 12 November 2020.- The Ministerial Declaration of the 44th Meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77 (G77) was approved today. An entire section of this document, focused on reaffirming that the imposition of coercive measures on developing countries does not contribute to the economic and social development of their peoples and is not tools that favor dialogue and understanding among peoples.

The Declaration firmly rejects the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the government of the United States on Cuba and calls for its immediate lifting.

Likewise, it states that the full implementation of Chapter III of the Helms-Burton Act and measures taken by Washington against Cuba since 2017 only reinforce and tighten the blockade

On the document, G-77 also expresses its solidarity and stand against unilateral coercive measures imposed on nations of the group such as Sudan, Iran, Venezuela, Syria and the Democratic People´s Republic of Korea.
