Gambian minister of Works met the Cuban ambassador in Banjul

Cuban Ambassador met Gambian minister of transport, Works and Infraestructura

Honorable Bai Lamin Jobe, Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure of the Gambia, MOTWI, welcomed the Cuban Ambassador to that country, Lázaro Herrera, with whom he held a fraternal exchange. MOTWI assumes, among others, functions similar to the Cuban Ministry of Construction.

The Gambian official, welcoming the representative of the island, referred to his personal admiration for the battle waged by the Cuban government for the welfare of its people, the successes achieved by Cuba despite external pressures and the example of self-sufficiency offered, which could be of interest in the new period of development that Gambia has initiated. He also expressed the willingness to know the Cuban experience and explore ways of collaboration in
works of different nature.

For his part, the Cuban ambassador described his visit as an expression of interest in contributing to the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries and its expansion to other sectors in addition to the traditional solidarity aid that Cuba provides to the African country in the health sector. He assured the willingness of Cuban institutions and companies to explore business
opportunities in The Gambia.

The diplomat highlighted the importance that the Caribbean island attaches to the construction of new facilities and infrastructure works and offered an overview of the Cuban experience in this matter, as well as the main works undertaken by the Revolution, with special emphasis on the most recent project related to the
Mariel Special Economic Development Zone.

At the end of the meeting, the Gambian minister expressed the interest to continue the dialogue initiated and explore possibilities for collaboration in this important field.
