Ghana and Cuba renew Health Cooperation Agreement

The Ministry of Health of Ghana and the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba signed an Agreement by means of which the cooperation in health matters between both countries is renewed, which enables the provision of healthcare services in Ghana by a Cuban Medical Brigade (CMB).

 

The Ghanaian Minister of Health, Mr. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, signed for the Ghanaian side, while the Ambassador, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, on behalf of the Cuban Minister of Health, Dr. José Ángel Portal Miranda did it for the Cuban side.

 

The signing ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health of Ghana, at which time both parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in continuing to be united in this necessary cooperation. The Agreement allows care work in Ghana by a CMB, for a period of two years, renewable for the same period of time by mutual agreement between the parties.

 

On the Ghanaian side, the General Director of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari, witnessed the signing, while on the Cuban side was Dr. Ana Lubín García, Head of the outgoing CMB.

 

Under this Agreement, new Cuban health specialists will arrive in Ghana to continue offering their assistance services. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Ghana)
