Ghana ratifies Africa's solidarity with Cuba against the blockade

Ghanaian Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw, represented the African continent in the virtual meeting "Solidarity vs. Blockade" sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP).

In her speech, Dr. Bisiw ratified the historical relationship between Cuba and Africa, and the commitment of the continent in the fight for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade suffered by the Cuban people by the United States for more than six decades. She also highlighted the international solidarity of Cuba, and its health professionals in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, and joined her voice in favor of the delivery of the Nobel Peace Prize to the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade.

Dr. Bisiw thanked Cuba and its government for the opportunity she received to be trained there as a professional. She was one of the young people who, since 1986, studied in the Isle of Youth. Later, she entered the Higher Institute of Agricultural Sciences of Havana, an institution where she concluded her studies in Veterinary Medicine in 1999.

She is a member of the Association of Ghanaian Graduates in Cuba (ESBECAN) and in 2019 she was a member of the Ghanaian delegation that attended the VI Regional Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, based in Abuja, and also represented her country at the III Anti-imperialist Solidarity Conference, for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, held in Havana.

At present, she holds the position of National Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). She was a member of Parliament, representing her party, and Vice Minister of Food and Agriculture. In all her speeches, she has highlighted her love for Cuba and her dedication to the legacy of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro. (Embacuba Ghana)
