Ghanaian Minister of Health receives the Ambassador of Cuba

The Ambassador of Cuba, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, was received by the new Minister of Health, Mr. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, with whom he held a working meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry.

The Ambassador of Cuba congratulated to the Minister by his new responsibility. Both parties discussed the fulfillment of the Health Cooperation Agreement, which provides the legal framework for activity in Ghana of the Cuban Medical Brigade, which began its work in October 2016.

The Cuban Ambassador informed the Minister on his visit to the three regions of Northern Ghana and about the activities perform by the Cuban health workers in the Regional Hospitals of Wa and Bolgatanga, as well as in the Tamale Teaching Hospital. The Minister Agyeman-Manu appreciated the information received and expressed his interest in visiting Cuba.

The Chief Director of the Ministry of Health, Mrs. Afisah Zakariah; and the National Coordinator of Health Collaboration with Cuba, Dr. Hafez Adam Taher also participated for the Ghanaian side in the meeting. The Cuban Ambassador was accompanied by Dr. Ana Lubín García, Head of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Ghana, and Julio César Sánchez, First Secretary of the Embassy.
