The Cuban Ambassador to Ghana, Pedro Luis Despaigne González received a representation from the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), headed by its President, Mr. Raphael Apetorgbor.
The student leaders after thanking the reception, explained that they represent an organization of students of different types of post-graduate studies, interested in learning about Cuban experiences in that field of knowledge. They indicated their respect for Cuba, and its historical leader Fidel Castro, highlighting the role he played alongside Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in establishing bilateral ties between the two countries. They recognized the importance of Cuban support to the African continent, and in particular to Ghana.
The Ambassador emphasized the diplomatic relations between Ghana and Cuba, which will arrive on December 23rd at its 60th Anniversary. He highlighted how Ghana was the first country in Sub-Saharan Africa to establish links with the Cuban Revolution. He also referred to how they have marched the bilateral cooperation, especially in sectors such as Education and Health, which yield, as a balance, the graduation in Cuban classrooms of more than two thousand Ghanaian students, and the uninterrupted presence in that African country, of more than two thousand Cuban Health workers.
The GRASAG-GIMPA delegation was integrated by the Women’s Commissioner, Mrs. Fuseina Issah and Mr. Erick Ofosu Asare. The First Secretary of the Cuban Embassy, Julio César Sánchez, was also in attendance.
