Georgetown, June 11, 2018. With the participation of the Minister of Education of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana Hon. Dr. Nicolette Henry and the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Guyana Mr. Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro, among other personalities, the graduation ceremony of eight Guyanese specialists was held. They were trained in the area of diagnosis and physical rehabilitation by a group of specialists from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Cuba.
This graduation is part of the actions carried out as part of the agreement signed on December 8, 2016 between the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, CARICOM, and the Republic of Cuba, for the creation of a Regional Center for the stimulation of the development of children, adolescents and young people with special educational needs associated with disabilities. During the event, Cuba's collaboration with the Caribbean Region and the role of the Regional Centre for the Development of Special Education in Guyana and CARICOM were highlighted.
