Interested in learning firsthand about Cuba’s current situation, journalist Hamlet Mark visited the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in Grenada, where he held a cordial exchange with Ambassador Yadirys Echenique Paz and Consul Ariel Pazos Ortiz. The visit provided a space for dialogue that allowed for discussion of current political and informational issues.
During the meeting, the distinguished Grenadian journalist—director of Caribupdate News Service and also associated with the local channel WPG10 TV—shared his impressions on international coverage of Cuban realities and listened to the diplomats’ views on the importance of counter‑hegemonic communication.
In this regard, the Cuban officials offered a comprehensive update on the situation on the Island, explaining the effects of the energy siege, the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the U.S. government, and the Cuban people’s responses to uphold national sovereignty. They stressed that, despite adversity, Cuba maintains its vocation for cooperation and its commitment to peace and regional development.
The exchange with journalist Hamlet Mark took place in a context in which centers of imperial power and their allies are waging a media war against Cuba. Participants agreed on the need to counter distorted narratives and to reaffirm the truth of a people who, for more than six decades, have defended their independence with dignity.
