Grenadian media publishes article by Cuban Ambassador on the defense of sovereignty

Medio granadino publica artículo de embajadora cubana sobre la defensa de la soberanía

The Ambassador of Cuba to Grenada, Yadirys Echenique Paz, published an article in Now Grenada under the title “Defending Cuba Means Defending Justice and Sovereignty.” The text denounces the U.S. blockade and reaffirms that the defense of the Island is also the defense of the dignity of peoples.

In her analysis, the diplomat stressed that supporting Cuba is not an isolated gesture but part of a greater cause. “Defending Cuba also means defending the justice and sovereignty of all peoples who resist the imposition of external powers,” she wrote, highlighting that international solidarity is essential in the face of smear campaigns and threats confronting her country.

The Ambassador explained that the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States constitutes a systematic violation of human rights. She pointed out that these measures seek to suffocate the Cuban economy and limit its capacity for development, but affirmed that the resistance of the Cuban people has been an example of firmness and dignity that deserves recognition.

The article emphasized that the international community has the responsibility to raise its voice against hostile policies. Quoting José Martí’s words that “he who rises today with Cuba, rises for all time,” Echenique underscored that the Cuban cause transcends borders and represents a symbol of hope for many peoples.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude for the demonstrations of support received in Grenada, where social and political organizations are promoting a solidarity campaign. In this regard, she highlighted that such gestures strengthen Cuban resistance and consolidate Caribbean unity in the face of external attempts at domination.
