Grenadian media outlets highlighted the speech delivered by Cuba’s Ambassador to that country, Yadirys Echenique Paz, on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations. Publications such as Grenada Informer and Now Grenada reflected the main messages of the diplomat during the commemorative event.
In their reports, the media emphasized the Ambassador’s words on the depth of the friendship between Cuba and Grenada, based on mutual trust and solidarity that transcends political boundaries. They also underscored her gratitude to the Grenadian government and people for the support given to the Greater of the Antilles amid current difficulties.
The journalistic reports recalled the origins of bilateral relations in 1979, as well as cooperation projects developed in sectors such as health, education, agriculture, and construction. Among them, the construction of the Maurice Bishop International Airport was mentioned as a symbol of joint effort and shared vision.
Grenadian media also noted the Ambassador’s tribute to the 24 Cuban internationalists who fell during the U.S. intervention in 1983, as well as her recognition of Grenada’s support in denouncing the economic blockade. Likewise, they highlighted her commitment to continue strengthening bilateral ties and the gratitude expressed toward recent solidarity initiatives in support of Cuba.
