As part of the celebration of International Workers’ Day, André Lewis, President of the Grenada Trade Union Council (GTUC), presented a recognition to the government and people of Cuba. The commemorative plaque was received by Cuba’s ambassador to Grenada, Yadirys Echenique Paz, during a ceremony that brought together Grenadian workers and representatives of the Cuban state mission.
At the moment of the presentation, GTUC representatives stated that the recognition is a gesture of gratitude for Cuba’s historic cooperation with the Grenadian people. They highlighted that the solidarity expressed by the Caribbean nation in areas such as health, education, and professional training has been an invaluable contribution to Grenada’s development.
The ambassador expressed thanks on behalf of the Cuban government and people, noting that the recognition symbolizes the brotherhood between the two nations, forged through decades of collaboration and mutual respect.
