New York, April 13th, 2023.- Cuba praised the work and support of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to developing countries and to the management of the Secretariat of the Group of the 77 and China.
The above mentioned was expressed by Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, acting as Chair of the Group of the 77 and China, during meeting with Mr. Jens Wandel, executive director a.i. of UNOPS.
UNOPS executive conveyd the willingness to continue benefiting developing countries in the drafting of projects, in the proportion of especialized services as well as in the selections and hiring of personnel, the arrangement of trainings, among others.
Pedroso estimated as positive the role of the Office during the last years of pandemic when it managed to maintain the projects with the countries. In particular with Cuba, the Office from its regional representation in Mexice and through the Chamber of Commerce had organized workshops for Cuban business sector.
UNOPS is part of 23 Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the United Nations System signatories of the Framework of Cooperation with cuba during 2020-2024.
