Geneva, June 19, 2025. The Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations issued a statement today at the UN Human Rights Council, expressing deep gratitude and appreciation to Cuban health professionals for the high quality health care provided to millions of people around the world.
The 18 member countries of the Group denounced the dishonest campaign of the United States government to discredit Cuban medical cooperation and exert pressure on recipient governments, mostly developing countries.
It was described this mendacious campaign as an extension of aggression and hostility against Cuba, and an attack on multilateralism, international cooperation and human rights.
The Group was emphatic that millions of people cannot be deprived of the human right to health for political reasons.
The group of countries also pointed out that 605,000 Cuban health collaborators have provided services in 165 nations and affirmed that Cuban medical cooperation will continue to be a symbol of hope, dedication, humanity and solidarity.
