Group of Friendship with Cuba of the Azerbaijani Parliament expresses solidarity with the Island

Azerbaijani deputies, Elshad Mirbashiroglu, head of the Azerbaijan-Cuba interparliamentary working group, and Kamran Bayramov, a member of that group, received the Cuban ambassador in Baku, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, in the National Assembly (Milli Majlis) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, where They reaffirmed the importance of the bilateral and friendly relations that this Caucasian nation shares with the Caribbean island.

In a friendly atmosphere of solidarity, the Azeri legislators and the Cuban diplomat highlighted the good state of their relations and expressed their willingness to continue working to strengthen them.

Nieves Portuondo thanked the Azerbaijani Parliamentarian for supporting the Cuban people's struggle against the economic and financial blockade of the United States government.

Likewise, both parties exchanged on economic-commercial, biotechnological, scientific and medical cooperation between the two nations.

Mirbashiroglu and Bayramov recognized the work of the Cuban medical brigade, made up of 235 health specialists fighting COVID-19 in Azerbaijan and thanked Cuba for its gesture of assisting other nations in their fight against the pandemic.

The new parliamentary group of Friendship with Cuba in Azerbaijan is made up of deputies elected in the last parliamentary elections held in February this year.
