GRULAC ambassadors support Conference on Latin American Studies in Asia and Oceania

Wellington, June 14, 2016. In a meeting held at Victoria University of Wellington with Pro Vice – Chancellor Roberto Rabel, the ambassadors of Argentina, Chile, Cuba and Mexico, exchanged had an exchange on the 7th Conference of the Council for Latin American Studies of Asia and Oceania, to be held in December in the New Zealand capital. Academics, politicians, businessmen and personalities from both regions will take part in the event to discuss links between the two sides and encourage greater links, emphasizing the role of the Pacific Ocean as a point of contact.

The Ambassador of Cuba, Mario Alzugaray, welcomed the organization of this Conference, which represents an excellent chance to increase mutual understanding and analyze existing opportunities to further develop relations in different areas. The occasion is also appropriate to highlight Cuba´s presence and cooperation with Small Island States in the Pacific.

Victoria University of Wellington, main academic institution in the New Zealand capital, is also the headquarters of the Victoria Institute for Links with Latin America (VILLA), which has played an important role in previous editions of CELAO Conferences.
