Georgetown, August 21, 2020. This morning, the Cuban Ambassador paid a courtesy call to the new Minister of Education of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Honorable Priya Manickchand. The head of the Cuban diplomatic mission congratulated the Minister on her recent appointment to the post and wished her success in her new work.
The Minister expressed her admiration for the achievements made by Cuba in the field of Education and thanked the support provided for more than forty years by the Antillean archipelago to Guyana in the training of professionals in various areas of knowledge.
During the meeting, both parties expressed their willingness to work together to strengthen the collaboration and exchange relationships in the educational field, especially with regard to the teaching of English and Spanish languages. They also agreed to continue supporting the advancement and consolidation of the Regional Center for Stimulating the Development of Children, Adolescents and Young People with Special Educational Needs Associated with Disabilities, whose headquarters are located in the Guyanese capital and it was created by an agreement between the Heads of Government of CARICOM and Cuba to provide its services to the entire Caribbean region.
