Georgetown, July 26th, 2022. Sixty-nine years later, Cuba is exceptional in many ways; education, bioengineering, and health in particular.
However, it is important to bear in mind that it is due to the inhumane economic blockade imposed and maintained by the US on Cuba, which cannot fully take advantage of the positive side of globalization and trade liberalization in favor of the Cuban people.
However, with the implementation of numerous imaginative social and economic policies and some local strategies, implemented by the Cuban government and supported by the Cuban people, ways have been found to sustain and advance the objectives of the socialist project initiated after the triumph of the revolution of January 1, 1959.
We Guyanese owe a debt of gratitude to the Cuban government and people who, over the years, have extended their support and solidarity to our country, by providing medical personnel, scholarships to young Guyanese, and technical assistance in many key areas with long-established functional cooperation between our two countries.
