Thailand honors the 90th birthday of Ernesto Guevara de la Serna (Che), on June 14th, 2018.
On this historic occasion of special relevance, the Golden Leaves Press, the GYPSY Group of Thailand and the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba to the Kingdom will be launching next October, at the famous and popular "Bangkok Book Fair", the Thai-language edition of the wonderful book “Remembering Che: My Life with Che Guevara”, a love story written in her own words by his loving wife Aleida March.
I am pleased to advance excerpts of the Foreword of this insightful masterpiece:
"Today, more than ever before, Ernesto “Che” Guevara is revered as a symbol of rebellion, courage, dignity and honesty for his relentless fight against oppression, poverty, hunger, illiteracy and disease, imperialism, colonialism, neocolonialism and capitalist exploitation in Latin America and worldwide. His legendary existence has left us with a huge legacy and profound teachings in the path of class struggle for justice and his endless desire to create the consciousness of a "new man" driven by moral rather than material incentives.
"In 1967, in Bolivia, well-known reactionary powers tried to silence “Che” Guevara, to extinguish his guiding light, to bury his example. All they accomplished was to multiply his universal presence, to amplify his voice, to make his inspiration shine bright like a shooting star in the sky."
"In today's increasingly unequal world, “Che” Guevara’s ideas, optimism and perseverance are more alive and valid than ever in the hearts of all the progressive women and men of the world."
"In his short 39-years-old existence, the Argentine revolutionary and major figure of the Cuban Revolution, alongside with Fidel Castro and Raúl Castro, was able to combine in his exemplary and fruitful life the facets of medical doctor, writer and diarist, diplomat, revolutionary strategist, military theorist, father, husband and, especially, an extraordinary personal capacity to love and be loved."
"In Thailand, “Che” Guevara’s image, life and legacy are very well known and very much loved. The fact of this being the first publication of its kind about “Che” in Thai language is of high significance."
"Its enlightening content opens the door for the Thai readers to perhaps the most distinctive facet in “Che” Guevara’s personality: Love."
