New York, 23 October 2018. The Historian of the City of Havana, Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler, is in New York following an invitation from the World Monuments Fund.
The invitation has been extended to pay tribute to Dr. Leal for his extraordinary work in the conservation of Cuba's architectural and artistic heritage. The tribute gala will be held this evening.
Yesterday afternoon the members of the Board of Directors of the Fund hosted a welcome cocktail to the outstanding Cuban intellectual, where he had the opportunity to exchange views with his hosts in a friendly and cordial atmosphere.
The World Monuments Fund is a private, non-profit organization based in New York that focuses on the recovery and conservation of the world's artistic heritage. The Fund has worked on projects of this nature in 90 countries and has branch offices in the United Kingdom, India, Italy, Peru, Portugal and Spain.
