he Cuba–Türkiye Friendship Association presented the campaign “Collecting Sunlight for Cuba”

The Cuba–Türkiye Friendship Association presented the campaign “Collecting Sunlight for Cuba” during a meeting aimed at raising awareness about the worsening energy crisis affecting the island as a result of the tightening of the U.S. blockade and sanctions.

During the event, participants described the impact that prolonged power outages are having on daily life and on Cuba’s healthcare system. Organizers announced that the solidarity initiative seeks to install solar energy systems in three major medical institutions in Santa Clara.

Cuba’s ambassador to Ankara, Alejandro Díaz Palacios, stated that the measures promoted under the administration of Donald Trump amount to a form of “collective punishment” against the Cuban people, directly affecting essential sectors such as healthcare, transportation, and access to basic resources.

The campaign aims to mobilize solidarity support in Türkiye in order to expand the use of renewable energy in Cuba and help reduce the impact of the country’s energy crisis.
