Heartfelt condolences to the Cuban People. Message of the Jamaican Solidarity Movement

The Jamaica Solidarity Movement with Cuba, uses this medium to express our deep and heart felt condolences to our brothers and sisters in our sister island of Cuba and particularly  the families of the 32 heroic combatants, who lost their loved ones in the early hours of January 3rd, while fulfilling their internationalist duty in sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

We equally condemn in the most trenchant manner, the cowardly and criminal act of aggression committed by the bare-faced moribund empire, which resulted in the death of a total  of over 100 military and civilian lives and the kidnapping of the democratically elected president of the Bolivarian Republic Nicholas Maduro Moros and wife Celia Flores, deputy of the country's national assembly.

This unprovoked act of vile aggression is not only a flagrant violation of International law and a brazen repudiation of the United Nations charter but more broadly speaking, represents the obvious signs of a dying empire who in its desperate efforts at reinventing ' the 'Trump Corollary' of a 'discredited 200- year- old plus Monroe Doctrine, have resorted to banditry, criminal sanctions, threats to sovereign nations, bombing of boats,  kidnapping and Gobbels- type propaganda.

As we continue to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban revolution, Fidel, we pause to reflect on the unparalleled legacy of international solidarity that he has left us with.

Whether it was on the battlefield in  Mama Africa to turn the tide against the racist- aparatheid regime in South over 37 years ago to one of victory, or been among the ' first responders' whenever natural disasters strikes, especially among the peoples of the global south, you can count on the heirs of Fidel to be on the 'frontline'.

As another indelible chapter of our revolutionary Cuba's contribution to humanity struggle for a better world is written and as we greive with a courageous nation you can continue to count on the unconditional support of your Jamaican brothers and sisters. We are further strengthened by the lyrics of one of our revolutionary cultural icons, 'we know we shall as we are confident in the victory of good over evil.(Bob Marley)
