Athens, March 19, 2021. Hellenic Cuban Association of Friendship and Solidarity denounces one more incident against Cuba by the European Union under the pretext of respect for human rights.
It is about the organization of an event in the European Parliament at the end of February by the MEP of the European People's Party Leopoldo López Gil (Spain) and the vice-president of the European Parliament Dita Charanzova (Czechia). The event was organized on the occasion of the recent circulation of a song with the title "Patria y Vida" (Homeland and Life), signed by various Cuban "artists" that has a content denouncing alleged violations of the freedom of artistic expression by the "obsolete Cuban regime” As they declare. The title is even a paraphrase of Fidel Castro's historical phrase "Patria o Muerte” (Homeland or death). This gesture is part of some protests by "artists" against a "silencing of the opinion opposed by the Cuban regime" with the support of well-known anti-revolutionary groups. It is worth mentioning that among the “valuable guests” of this event was also the puppet of the United States and the EU in Venezuela, Juan Guaidó.
All this is no surprise, since the EU's attitude towards Cuba always aspires to intervene in its internal affairs, to create counterrevolutionary mechanisms, to facilitate the infiltration of monopolies. It aspires to attack the conquests of the Cuban revolution that until today demonstrates in practice its superiority over what the “capitalist paradise” reserves for the peoples of the world. In that direction was also the "Common Position" of the EU towards Cuba. This direction also feeds the Dialogue on Human Rights, as part of the EU-Cuba Agreement on Political Dialogue and Cooperation (PDCA).
The Hellenic-Cuban Association of Friendship and Solidarity defends the Cuban revolution and its achievements and condemns the positions and activities that aspire to exert pressure and destabilize, either with the carrot or with the stick, and with the culmination of the unacceptable criminal blockade against Cuba by the United States. It will continue to express its support and solidarity by all means with the Cuban people who are proudly fighting under adverse conditions.
