Harare, January 30, 2026 – Cuba condemned the latest escalation of US aggression following the announcement of a total blockade on fuel supplies to the Caribbean nation, reported Zimbabwe's leading newspaper, The Herald.
The Herald quoted Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, who asserted that the proposed measures are based on a long list of lies intended to falsely portray Havana as a threat.
"We condemn in the strongest terms the latest escalation by the United States against Cuba. Now they propose imposing a total blockade on fuel supplies to our country," emphasized the island's foreign minister.
The Caribbean nation accused Washington of being the main threat to peace, security, and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean, noted journalist Ivan Zhakata in the article.
According to the Foreign Minister, "Every day there is new evidence that the only malign influence in our America is that exerted by the United States government, which seeks to subject nations to its dictates, plunder their resources, cripple their sovereignty, and deprive them of their independence."
The United States uses blackmail and coercion to pressure other countries into complying with its blockade policy against Cuba, now with the threat of arbitrary and abusive tariffs, violating international free trade norms, reported The Herald.
Zimbabwe's leading newspaper highlighted the denunciation before the international community of this brutal act of aggression against the Cuban people, who have suffered an economic blockade for more than six decades.
