Vientiane, February 15, 2026. The high-ranking representative of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vice Minister Carlos Cossío, elaborates on the situation facing Cuba, which is subjected to a cruel economic war.
In this regard, he states that "American or pro-American media outlets, such as the Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and others, describe the current critical situation in Cuba without any impartiality. In reality, they demonstrate enthusiasm and bias.
What is happening in Cuba is the result of a ruthless and disproportionate, highly asymmetrical, unjust, and unjustified aggression. The editors of these media outlets know this and offer no critical judgment whatsoever about the aggressor. Rather, they pass judgment on the challenges Cubans face in confronting the onslaught and rush to compete with each other to predict our realities with the greatest drama.
No one can objectively underestimate the immense challenge. It would be colossal for any country. Not all have Cuba's experience in self-defense against 67 years of imperialist aggression in various forms. Not all have a social justice system that facilitates taking the most equitable measures possible to cushion the blow and protect the population in essential matters and to the greatest extent possible. Not all have a A socialist system capable of prioritizing resource allocation, fostering solidarity, curbing selfishness, and mobilizing the national will toward a difficult and monumental task.
