St. John's. February 1, 2018: On Thursday morning, Engineer Gisel Pérez, Director of CUBAHIDRAULICA and Cuban Ambassador Gustavo Véliz Olivares, offered a live interview for national television in the morning space "Antigua Barbuda Today" ( ABSTV, Channel 10).
In her statements, the Engineer highlighted the availability of Cuba to cooperate with the Caribbean sister nation in everything related to the study of the island's hydraulic potential, its main dams and reservoirs, the operation and maintenance of hydraulic works and other related works, all requirements of explicit interest of the Government, which was ratified by the Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne, during the recent speech of presentation of the annual budget 2018, occasion in which he greeted the imminent implementation of cooperation projects with Cuba in the hydraulic sphere with the assistance of Cuban specialists.
For his part, the Cuban Ambassador, reiterated Cuba's willingness to maintain cooperation programs with the Caribbean, in compliance with the agreements of the VI Cuba-CARICOM Summit and the priority that our foreign policy grants to relations with the Caribbean countries, despite the economic limitations we suffer from the unjust economic and commercial economic blockade imposed by the United States. In the case of Antigua and Barbuda, he stressed that collaborative projects on water resources such as the aforementioned are being discussed, which is why a delegation of four Cuban specialists from the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources is visiting the island, completing an exchange program with the Antigua Public Utilities Authority. He also specified that new cooperation projects are also underway in agriculture and medicine.
On the other hand, the diplomat expressed Cuba's gratitude for the reception of Army General Raul Castro during his visit to Antigua and Barbuda last December, during which, in addition to attending the Cuba-CARICOM Summit, he completed a bilateral visit and attended a meeting of the Assembly of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) where tribute was also paid to the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.
