Homage to the Apostle at the "José Martí" Technical High School.

Homenaje al Apóstol en Escuela Secundaria Técnica “José Martí”.

Spanish Town, 26 January 2024. The José Martí Technical High School welcomed diplomats, health and education collaborators and Cubans living in Jamaica to pay homage to the Apostle on the 171st anniversary of his birth.

Students from the centre read a biography of our National Hero and recited the poem "I grow a white rose". The President of the School Board, Sandra Swyer Watson, expressed her gratitude for the support given by the Cuban Revolution to the education of the new Jamaican generations.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, highlighted the importance given by the Marti's ideals to the study and preparation for life of the "new pines". He ratified that the Cuban government will continue to provide scholarships that contribute to the training of the professionals of the future and that Cuban teachers will continue their work in Jamaican territory, despite the tightening of the blockade and the permanence of our country on the spurious list of State sponsors of terrorism.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the visitors paid tribute to José Martí in front of the bust that honours his memory and planted a desert rose as a symbol of the ties of brotherhood between the two nations.
