St. George, October 25. The Memorial to the 24 Cubans who fell during the United States invasion of Grenada stands, where our flag is raised with the same robustness and nobility as the fallen, had place a solemn act of tribute to the feat and memory of these brave men.
With the presence of Governor General Dame Cecile Le Grenada, of Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, the Minister of Foreings Affais Hon. Joseph Andall and the president of Senate Hon. Dessima Williams the recording ceremony and roll call of the fallen began. The speakers were Dr. Terrency Marryshow, President of the Cuba Solidarity Movement and Leader of the Maurice Bishop Foundation and the Cuban Ambassador to Grenada Ivette Martínez Leyva.
Both highlighted the need to honor our martyrs who were those who defended the Grenada Revolution with their lives. Remarks about the blockade against Cuba and the threatens regional peace and security.
Ministers, parliamentarians, Foreign Ministry officials, union leaders, former members of the Popular Revolutionary Army, members of the Cuban State Mission, Cuban residents, graduates in Cuba and members of the solidarity movement were present at the event.
History must always be defended with the same determination with which it was forged and with caution from those who try to distort it. We have memory and our martyrs are our greatest asset.
