On the night of October 7, 2022, and as a follow-up to the day in which we pay tribute to the martyrs of crime in Barbados, a World Premiere was held to show the documentary film entitled "CUBANA 455" by Chicano filmmaker Enrique Berumen, a graduate of the Film School of San Antonio de los Baños. The film makes a detailed exhibition based on interviews and newscasts of each element and point of view over the first horrendous bombing of a civilian commercial aircraft in flight. Tis event was organized by the Ambassador of Barbados to CARICOM , David Comissiong with the support of various entities of the Government and the people of Barbados.
The audience was composed by a uthorities from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, the diplomatic representatives of Barbados to the Caribbean, Cuba, Guyana and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, other members of the accredited diplomatic and consular corps, personalities from the solidarity movement with Cuba, representatives of the health and sports cooperation brigades, young students, and the general public.
The documentary consists of three parts and an epilogue, and was shown with an intermission that became the right moment to unveil the wax figure of the Captain of Flight CU 455 of Cubana de Aviación, Wilfredo Pérez, made by Art Edwards for the collection of the Caribbean Wax Museum located in the Norman Center on Broad Street, Bridgetown.
All these activities are inscribed in the promotion of knowledge for younger generations, of those milestones that mark the history of the close relations of our Caribbean peoples, in which the bases of our common destiny are intertwined, and remember forever this horrible first terrorist attack on a commercial airliner in mid-flight, which we will never forget.
Eternal Glory to the Martyrs of this Crime in Barbados, forever in the Olympus of the Eternal Heroes of the Homeland.
