As part of its work agenda towards the 20th European Summit of Solidarity with Cuba, the delegation of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) held a meeting with communist health workers and friends of Cuba at the Provincial Office of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP).
During the meeting, ICAP representatives gave a detailed overview of the serious effects of the intensified economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Cuban healthcare system. In particular, they highlighted how this hostile policy hinders the production of medicines and medical supplies on the island, even when Cuba has the technical and institutional capabilities to manufacture them.
The Cuban people's pride in the advances in their health indicators -one of the most emblematic achievements of the Revolution- is threatened by the restrictions imposed by the U.S. government, which pressures and sanctions international suppliers to prevent transactions with Cuba.
The delegation reaffirmed its denunciation: the blockade constitutes a crime against humanity and must be lifted immediately.
This activity is part of international efforts to make visible the consequences of the blockade and strengthen solidarity among peoples in the face of aggressions against Cuba's sovereignty.
