III International Colloquium JOSÉ MARTÍ FOR A CULTURE OF NATURE

III International Colloquium JOSÉ MARTÍ FOR A CULTURE OF NATURE

January 27-30, 2026, Havana, Cuba

The III International Colloquium JOSÉ MARTÍ FOR A CULTURE OF NATURE was convened for the first
time in 2004, with the support of the José Martí World Solidarity Project, registered with UNESCO in the
same year. The Colloquium is destined to become a space for exchange in which people of good will
converge again to reflect on the relation between Human Beings and Nature.
Since the second colloquium, held at the Havana Convention Center in 2010, the world situation has
changed significantly: imbalances have deepened, new challenges have emerged, but local and
international activism and alliances to save the planet and humanity have also multiplied. Therefore, the
José Martí Cultural Society and its working groups with José Martí Forests, Gardens and Orchards,
together with the Antonio Nuñez Jiménez Foundation, the National Botanical Garden of Cuba, and many
other Cuban institutions and international platforms, invite you to participate in this event and to spread
the word.
With this space we wish:
• To delve into essential topics for the planet's survival, such as the harmonization of human well-being,
environmental preservation, peace, and sustainable development.
• To address the environmental thinking of prominent figures from Cuba, Latin America, and the world.
• To promote a universal culture of the dialectical relationship between human beings and nature through
the analysis and sharing of diverse paradigms and experiences.
• Contribute to the necessary connection between the different disciplines of knowledge, in order to analyze
the relationships between human beings and the impact of our cultures on the natural environment.
• Contribute to the creation and transmission of knowledge through academic activity and other modalities.
The event will combine in-person and virtual working commissions with experience-sharing workshops,
demonstration spaces, community impact, and engagement with art and literature

With this in mind, the main thematic axes will be:
• Ethics and environment
• Environmental policy and education
• Interdisciplinary and historical perspective of the environment
• Biodiversity, climate change, soils, oceans and other global challenges
• Paradigms and initiatives for a sustainable world
