Abuja, November 25, 2023.- Organized by the Embassy of Cuba in Nigeria, a solemn and moving event was held at the headquarters of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, on the occasion of the 7th Anniversary of the physical disappearance of the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.
The ceremony was presided over by the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Miriam Morales Palmero, the director of the Department of International Relations of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mr. Ini Akpan Morgan, the ruling party in Nigeria; the Minister Counselor of the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms. Esther Okonmah; the Deputy Secretary General of the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC), Comrade Ismail Bello; the Executive Secretary of the Solidarity Movement with Cuba in Nigeria, comrade Abiodum Aremu; brothers of the Platform of Solidarity with Cuba in Nigeria; members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Nigeria, graduate students in Cuba, a representation of Cubans residing in the country, members of the Cuban Embassy staff and Nigerian workers from the center.
The central words were pronounced by the representative of the APC, Mr. Ini Akpan Morgan, who reflected the good relations that exist between both countries and the imprint of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz on the African continent.
Within the framework of the activity, the Cuban ambassador, Miriam Morales Palmero, referred to the life of the commander in chief, the importance more than ever of his example and legacy to face current challenges and also thanked those present for their support, in the fight against the blockade and in the organization of this special commemoration. As the central moment of the tribute, everyone present was invited to plant a Royal Palm that would serve as a historical site for the eternal leader of the Cuban people.
