Inauguration of the 11th. Seychelles Dance Biennial was inaugurated with the participation of Cuba as guest country

Victoria, 15th July._ The 11th Biennal of Dance of Seychelles was officially inaugurated yesterday, an event that brings together dancers from Russia, Mauritius, Rodrigues Island, Cuba and Seychelles.

The festival is organized by the National Conservatory of Performing Arts - School of Dance, under the auspices of the Seychelles National Arts and Crafts Council.

In this edition the prestigious Cuban dancer Leiván García Valle, director of the Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba, will assume the role of as a main choreographer of the event and will perform accompanied by dancer Julia García Valle Von Oy of the same group.

For two weeks the dancers will share classes, workshops, techniques and dance experiences, where they will mix cultures and traditions under the theme “Worlds in movement: dance as dialogue”.

At the final gala presentation, each group will perform its own piece and the main choreography, created by Leiván for this special occasion, will be performed together.

As part of the event, an open Cuban salsa workshop will be held at the National Museum, organized by the Seychelles Institute of Culture, Heritage and the Arts, the Cuban Embassy and the Seychelles-Cuba Friendship Association (SECUFA).
