Indonesian press reports the impact of the US blockade on Cuba's efforts against the Pandemic and on its traditional medical solidarity

Jakarta, September 25- Rmol, one of the digital newspapers with the greatest impact in the Indonesian language, published an article in which, referring to recent statements by the president of La Casa de las Américas, Abel Prieto, highlights the negative impact of the US blockade in the fight of the small Caribbean island against Covid-19, in its altruistic humanitarian role with other nations of the world and the responsibility of neoliberalism for the deep social gaps, exacerbated during the current Pandemic.

The newspaper also highlights what was pointed out by the prominent Cuban intellectual in that the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States has deprived Cuba of access to the supplies and resources necessary to combat the pandemic, both at the national level and in his traditional medical solidarity with other nations of the world.

It is also stated that in recent months the Trump Administration has tightened the blockade against Cuba, while pressuring many governments in the region and the world to prevent cooperation with Cuban health workers, who have provided assistance in more than 40 countries, as opposed to others that see the disease as a lucrative business.

Also referring to a publication on the Cuban Foreign Ministry website, the Indonesian newspaper also ponders the deep gaps that the Pandemic has exposed in neoliberalism, a model that the elites have maintained for decades as patterns to follow, despite the fact that from its origins it has exacerbated inequality, poverty, social exclusion and the effects of climate change.
