Havana, February 25, 2026. — In the early morning of this February 25, 2026, a violating speedboat was detected within Cuban territorial waters bearing a Florida (United States) registration number FL7726SH, which approached approximately one nautical mile northeast of the El Pino channel, at Falcones Cay, Corralillo municipality, Villa Clara province.
When a surface unit of the Border Guard Troops of the Ministry of the Interior, with five combatants, approached to identify it, fire was opened from the violating speedboat against the Cuban officers, wounding the commander of the Cuban vessel.
As a result of the confrontation, as of the closing of this information, on the foreign side, four aggressors were killed and six were wounded, who were evacuated and received medical assistance.
Faced with current challenges, Cuba reaffirms its will to protect its territorial waters, based on the fact that national defense is a fundamental pillar for the Cuban State in favor of protecting its sovereignty and stability in the region.
