Intellectuals in Barbados to create the Caribbean Chapter - Network in Defense of Humanity.

Motivated by the challenges currently facing the humanity and the need to unite to face them effectively, a leading group of Caribbean academics and intellectuals, among which highlights the eminent Dr. George Lamming, met in Barbados to analyze the possibilities of creating the Caribbean Chapter of the existing Network in Defense of Humanity (EDH), created 11 years ago in Bolivarian Venezuela, currently represented by national chapters on different continents.
Lawyers and political activists Robert "Bobby" Clarke and David Comissiong, academic and columnist Dr. Tennyson Joseph and the MP Trevor Prescod, joined in the discussion to Dr Lamming, hosted by the Cuban Ambassador Francisco Fernandez, who stressed the path similar bodies formed as the Cuban Chapter, which brings together institutions and personalities including artists, scientists, academics, intellectuals having formed a movement characterized by its creativity and constant activism on social networks.
This foundational core group, under Dr. Lamming proposal, conceived what it would be not only a Barbadian but the Caribbean Chapter as a move to attract other personalities committed to the principles of International Network and serve to integrate in the first instance the Greater Caribbean, conceived this as the union Anglo, French and Spanish speaking countries, and secondly, extending the interaction with South America and other parts of the world. In this regard, the main agreement of the participants was to call several people identified in and out of Barbados through a programmatic document and create an organizing committee to carry ways of doing the project.
