The International Tourism Fair of Cuba 2023 Opens its Doors

The 41st edition of the International Tourism Fair of Cuba was officially inaugurated this Monday in the Morro-Cabaña historical park in Havana, with the presence of the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz.

From May 1 until  Friday the 5th, the fair will bring together about 573 international tour operators, more than 51 hotel chains and the same number of airlines, which constitutes an advantage for the promotion of the tourist attractions of the archipelago and the business agreement.

The event began with the traditional cannon shot ceremony. When pronouncing the words of welcome, the governor of Havana, Reinaldo García Zapata, highlighted the great qualities of Havana, the venue of FITCuba 2023.

He added that the history of the capital and its cultural events are part of the attractions, as well as the urban historical center.

“You are in  Cuba and Havana in extraordinary circumstances marked by the crisis caused by the covid-19 pandemic and the blockade of the United States. Despite this, you will enjoy the customs, habits and traditions that distinguish us”.

He invited those present to visit the historical and beautiful places of the capital.

The Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García Granda, assured that Cuba is an exceptional tourist destination, with a rich history and heritage, a vibrant culture and impressive natural beauty.

Speaking at the inauguration, Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, thanked the trust placed in the country and said that attention will continue to be given to the work carried out by tour operators and businessmen so that people travel to the Island and enjoy the benefits of the country.

He recalled that they have been difficult years, the covid affected us all. The economic crisis derived from the pandemic and the blockade impacted the normal development of Cuban tourism.

Despite these circumstances, he said,  the main investments have not stopped, due to the role that this sector plays in the economic development of the country and the well-being of the population.

The Cuban prime minister pointed out among the potential of Cuba in the tourism sector, the quality infrastructure, a trained human capital, the extensive historical and cultural legacy, legendary heritaged cities, 290 national monuments, preserved nature, 600 km of beaches and a people characterized by its joviality.
