The International U.S.-Cuba Normalization Conference began today in New York City, an important challenge of solidarity in the face of the intensification of the hostile policy of the United States against our country.
This event will bring together activists, representatives of social and political organizations, as well as people interested in the defense of Cuba. The forum will be attended in person and virtually, and will extend throughout the weekend with various activities.
It has a wide participation of solidarity organizations and activists from different sectors, with the collaboration of solidarity networks in the United States, Canada (Quebec) and the Continental Latin American and Caribbean Network of Solidarity with Cuba and Just Causes.
The conference will reiterate its demand for an end to the longstanding economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the Cuban people, and will demand the elimination of the island from Washington's unilateral list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism.
One of the fundamental tasks of the event is to reach a final declaration with the working objectives of the solidarity movement in the immediate future, taking into account that there is a bi-directional US blockade that dramatically affects the lives of tens of millions of Cuban and US residents.
Cuba is facing an unprecedented siege, as the U.S. State Department has once again included our country in its unilateral and arbitrary list of states that allegedly sponsor terrorism. The support of solidarity becomes more important in order to strengthen the fight for the lifting of the blockade and to defend the legitimate right of our people to live in peace, with respect, and to determine their own destiny.
