Iranian Ambassador Receives Cuban Ambassador on a Courtesy Visit

Islamabad, 3 June 2026. The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, His Excellency Dr Reza Amiri Moghadam, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Damián Cordero Torres, on a courtesy visit, in a meeting marked by the solidarity and respect shared by both countries.

The Cuban Ambassador expressed his gratitude for being received at the Embassy and conveyed his heartfelt condolences for the loss of life suffered by the Iranian people as a result of the recent US-Israeli aggression, as well as his solemn respect for the state funerals to be held in the coming days to bid farewell to the former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

During the meeting, both ambassadors agreed on the principled stance that their governments and nations have maintained in confronting the ambitions of the US government in its endeavor to undermine the integrity and sovereignty of countries such as Iran and Cuba, which have chosen a different way of life. The Cuban ambassador acknowledged the Iranian people’s resistance, their unity and their determination to confront US-Israeli aggression at any cost, whilst responding to the enemy’s attacks and employing masterful diplomacy that forced the Trump administration to the negotiating table.

Similarly, the Cuban Ambassador briefed his Iranian counterpart on the situation in Cuba, which has been exacerbated by the aggressiveness of the US blockade, including the energy blockade and the list of unilateral coercive measures resulting from the latest executive orders issued by President Trump and his chief adviser on Cuba, who heads the State Department. For his part, the Iranian ambassador expressed his confidence that the Cuban people will overcome the challenge they face and win this battle against a US administration obsessed with power.

The visit reaffirmed the commitment of both governments to support one another at both the bilateral level and within international organizations.
