Kingston, 26 February 2023. Members of the Association of Cuban Residents in Jamaica "Antonio Maceo" (ACRJ) and members of the Cuba Solidarity Movement gathered at the Antonio Maceo statue in the Jamaican Heroes Park to denounce the impact of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
Alexander Scott, member of the Left Alliance for Democracy and Socialism (LANDS) and Kishan Reid, vice-president of the People's National Party Youth Organisation (PNPYO), expressed their gratitude for Cuba's permanent solidarity with the Jamaican people, mainly in the health and education sectors, despite the effects of this genocidal policy.
Osvaldo Cardenas, president of the ACRJ, denounced the extraterritorial application of the blockade, which negatively affects business opportunities between Jamaican companies and Cuban residents with Cuban entities.
Trevor Brown, president of the Jamaica-Cuba Friendship Association (JCFA), called for the struggle to continue until justice triumphs and the blockade is removed.
