Kingston, 11 November 2025. The Second Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica, Rolando Dávila Gallardo, intervened in the ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of Angola's independence. The event was organised by the Pan-African Cooperation Forum, the Jamaica-Cuba Friendship Association and the Association of Past Members of the PNPYO (1970 chapter). It was also attended by Jamaican academics and members of the Cuban community residing in Jamaica.
In his address to those present, the Cuban diplomat recalled the impact of Operation Carlota as a symbol of solidarity, courage and internationalist commitment. He also highlighted the legacy of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz as the architect and strategist of this historic feat. He reaffirmed that ‘our blood is mixed with that of the Africans, and with it an indestructible brotherhood has been sealed forever’.
The participants’ speeches expressed gratitude for the solidarity and internationalist work of the Revolution and denounced the genocidal policy of the blockade imposed by the US government against our country.
