Kingston, April 20, 2026. The persistent rain did not prevent a delegation from the Cuban community, the Solidarity Movement, and the Cuban Mission in Jamaica from celebrating the 65th anniversary of the victory at the Bay of Pigs on the afternoon of Friday, April 17.
In her remarks to those present, the Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Tania López Larroque, underscored the significance for the continent of the declaration of the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution. She reiterated the Cuban people’s determination to confront the new threats from the U.S. government, following the example of the heroes and martyrs of Playa Girón.
Through the fourth chapter of the series “Reasons for a Victory,” titled “Victory Forever,” the main actions that led to the first major defeat of U.S. imperialism in Latin America under the precise leadership of the Commander-in-Chief were recalled.
Those present reaffirmed their support for the Revolutionary Government’s Declaration of April 17, exclaiming with deep conviction: “As long as there is a woman or a man willing to give their life for the Revolution, we will be victorious. Girón is today and forever.”
