Kingston, 14 June 2025. In front of the bust paying tribute to the Bronze Titan in Jamaica Heroes Park, members of the Cuban state mission in Jamaica, members of the Association of Cuban Residents (ACR) and the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, representatives of youth organisations and social movements paid tribute to two sons of the Revolution: Antonio Maceo and Ernesto Guevara de la Serna.
The president of the Association of Cuban Residents in Jamaica ‘Antonio Maceo,’ Osvaldo Cárdenas, highlighted the importance of Antonio Maceo and Ernesto Che Guevara in the history of Cuba and the region. Under the revolutionary ideology of Maceo and Che, Cuban residents are holding the 7th Meeting of Cubans Living in Latin America and the Caribbean; the best way to pay tribute is by showing unity and love for the homeland.
In his remarks to those present, Second Secretary Rolando Dávila Gallardo highlighted the similarities in the actions and thinking of ‘two giants whom history has united beyond a date and a common ideal.’ The diplomat also highlighted the relevance of their anti-imperialist ideas at a time when the US government's subversive campaigns against Cuba are intensifying and our country remains on the spurious and unilateral list of state sponsors of terrorism.
For his part, the Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, emphasised the significance of the internationalist and anti-imperialist ideology of both Cuban heroes; both values are pillars of the brotherly relations that unite Cubans and Jamaicans.
As part of the ceremony, health and education collaborators highlighted the values shared by our heroes and reiterated the importance of making their thoughts and actions known to the new generations of Latin America and the Caribbean.
