From Jamaica, tribute to the Commander-in-Chief on the eighth anniversary of his physical disappearance

Kingston, 26 November 2024. The persistent rain could not prevent a representation of the Cuban resident community, the Cuban solidarity movement, political organisations and social movements and the state mission from attending at the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica to pay tribute to the Commander in Chief, on the eighth anniversary of his passing to immortality.

Through videos, poems and anecdotes, the immense work developed by Fidel as leader of the Cuban Revolution and his impact on Latin America, the Caribbean and the rest of the world were highlighted. The youngest members of the mission reiterated the commitment of the new generations to be faithful to his work, exclaiming with deep conviction: ‘I am Fidel!

In his words to those present, the Ambassador of Cuba in Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, emphasised the relevance of Fidel's ideas in the current times marked by the tightening of the blockade and the permanence of our country on the list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism.
