Jamaican companies participate in a webinar on the CUBA-CARICOM Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement.

Kingston, Jamaica, 22 July 2021. Jamaican companies Baric Distributors, Hardware and Lumber, and Jacden, along with some representatives from the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce, participated this morning in a webinar on the CUBA-CARICOM Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba.

With the participation of dozens of Cuban and foreign businessmen, the organizers explained the advantages and facilities offered by the Agreement, including tariff exemptions and reductions for a wide range of products. Following the explanation, a space was created for debate and exchange between participants.

CARICOM was created in 1973 through the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas, Trinidad and Tobago. The first CARICOM- Cuba summit was held in 2002, on the occasion of celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations between Havana and CARICOM member states. The CUBA-CARICOM Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Parties on July 5, 2000.
