Jamaican government sends donation to Cuba.

Kingston. August 21 2022. Jamaica's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT) announced on its Twitter account on Saturday afternoon, August 20, the dispatch of the first part of a shipment of medical supplies to Cuba in response to the devastation caused by the explosions at the Matanzas supertanker base.

The donation is the result of joint work between the MFAFT, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, the National Health Fund and the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica. For the transfer operation to Cuba, support was also provided by the travel agency Caribbean & Latin Travel.

In its own publication the MFAFT stated "Jamaica and the Republic of Cuba share a longstanding partnership based on mutual respect, cooperation and solidarity since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1972. The Government of Jamaica is pleased to assist its sister island in the Caribbean in this time of need".
