Kingston, Jamaica, 9 May 2019. During the Sectoral Debate on health by the Parliament of Jamaica, Dr. the Honourable Christopher Tufton, MP, Minister of Health of Jamaica, described the medical cooperation that Cuba provides to his country as very important.
Currently, some 300 health professionals from the Largest Island of the Antilles render their services throughout the Jamaican geography. The dedication and professionalism shown by Cuban doctors, nurses, technicians, and biomedical engineers has earned them the recognition of the Jamaican authorities and people.
Cuban cooperation is carried out under two health agreements, the first for technical cooperation between the Ministries of Public Health of Cuba and Jamaica; and the second, related to the operation of an Ophthalmological Center in Jamaica.
