Kingston, 28 October, 2019. Dr. Angela Brown-Burke, a member of the Chamber of Representatives of the Parliament of Jamaica, expressed her opposition to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the Government of the United States on Cuba for almost six decades.
During her exchange with the Cuban ambassador to Jamaica, H.E Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, the parliamentarian acknowledged that, in the last ten years, the legislative branch of her country has approved a motion rejecting the aforementioned policy, which continues to represent an obstacle to the development of all the potential of the Cuban economy.
In turn, the Cuban ambassador referred to the forthcoming presentation at the United Nations General Assembly of another resolution condemning the blockade. She expressed her confidence that, once again, the international community will reiterate its rejection of that policy, which constitutes a massive, flagrant and systematic violation of the Cuban people's human rights.
