Kingston, Jamaica, 18 January 2021.- Lisa Hanna, a member of the Parliament of Jamaica and Shadow Minister for Foreign Relations and Foreign Trade, posted on her Twitter account a message condemning the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the US government against Cuba and her rejection of the recent inclusion of the Greatest Island in the Antilles in the defamatory and selective list of countries that do not collaborate with the fight against terrorism, which unilaterally issues the US State Department.

Hanna’s message states:

Cuba has always been a friend of Jamaica and provided invaluable assistance in education, health and other areas and is deserving of Jamaica's continued support. Time to discontinue the labels of Terrorism, the economic blockade and sanctions imposed by the US against Cuba which are discriminatory, creating suffering on the Cuban people and a threat to stability in the Caribbean region.

We urge the US to pursue dialogue and diplomatic action to seek normalization of relations between the two countries.
