Kingston, 1 June 2026. On the morning of 31 May, the iconic Emancipation Park hosted a rally in solidarity with Cuba, organised by various organisations within the Solidarity Movement and supported by the Association of Cubans Residing in Jamaica. Also in attendance were Members of Parliament from the People’s National Party (PNP); representatives of the Left Alliance for National Democracy and Socialism (LANDS), the Jamaican branch of the All-African People’s Party, the Marcus Garvey People’s Party (MGPPP), the Jamaican Council for Peace, and graduates of Cuban universities.
Through an open microphone, participants denounced the devastating impact of the measures announced by the Trump administration, particularly the energy blockade, on the welfare of the Cuban people. They rejected the accusations against Army General Raúl Castro Ruz. They expressed their gratitude for the historic solidarity of the Cuban people in areas such as health and education and reaffirmed that the Largest of the Antilles poses no threat to either the US or any other nation in the world.
As part of the event, the organisers distributed flyers summarising the main hardships suffered in particular by Cuban children and young people as a result of the new imperialist offensive.
